About

Frederico Burmester has been working as a cabinetmaker, woodcarver and sculptor, for more than 30 years, at design, conservation and restoration projects - objects, furniture and heritage buildings, in Portugal and Brazil, from project to production and teaching. He has been also dedicated to his own projects using a combination of techniques and materials, working experimentally, with high and low technology, his handcrafted works are limited editions.

Frederico studied Communication Design at Darmstadt Faculty of Design, made his apprenticeship in Cabinetmaking in Frankfurt, Woodworking Arts at FRESS Instituto de Artes e Ofícios, in Lisbon, and Wood Conservation in Norway.

Frederico is keen on salvaged wood from old furniture or wooden structures. At the studio, every single piece of wood has a story. He also keeps a special interest for underwater archaeology, painting and photography.
